Have lightning safety awareness programmes

THE lightning incident which killed two and injured 22 mountain climbers on Gunung Rajah in Pahang on Sunday could have been avoided if the organisers had strictly observed the lightning safety rules which have been published several times in the mass media over the past few years.

To set up camp on top of a low mountain ridge is a mindless act on the part of the climbers and an irresponsible act on the part of the expedition team leaders.
