Mid-East policies under attack

It was a double blow last week for the United States, Britain and Israel in the Middle East. First, 52 former British senior ambassadors and foreign-policy officials publicly attacked British Prime Minister Tony Blair for supporting US President George Bush’s Iraq and Israel-Palestine policies. Next, the UN special envoy to Iraq called Israel the “great poison” and criticised the US for supporting it.

THE tide of public opinion on the Iraq war and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict took a dramatic turn last week when senior members of the British and United Nations establishment spoke up against the United States-Britain approach.
