Canberra keen on stronger ties

FOREIGN Affairs Minister Alexander Downer is convinced that the administration of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi (today is his 100th day in office) will strengthen the relationship between the two nations. 

“Abdullah is well and favourably known to Australia, especially from his time as Foreign Minister,” Downer enthuses in his reply to my questions on the change of leadership in the Malaysia. “He is welcome to visit Australia at a mutually convenient time.”
