A public consciousness on the issue of child sexual abuse is critical in our effort to protect our children from such crimes, writes SHANTINI SUNTHARAJAH. 

WHILE on his way home from school one day, Kamal (not his real name) decided to stop by at a friend’s house. There, he met a 20-year-old man who had befriended his friend. The man began showing Kamal and his friend pornographic videos. After this, he was told to have sex with the man. Kamal refused but that was not the end of his ordeal. He was then forced to watch the man and his male friend having sex.
