A lesson for a lifetime is how The Star journalist JOSEPH RAJ describes in his 10 days in earthquake-hit Bam in Iran. 

TO be honest, I was quite excited when told on the evening of Jan 29 that my assignment to Bam had been approved. I was on adrenalin high as I started thinking of the types of stories I could do while I rushed to buy winter clothes before my flight to Teheran on Dec 31.
