A MAN in his late 50s cut a sad figure as he sat by a lamppost next to a drain at the entrance of the field hospital in Baravat, about 5km from Bam, Iran.

After a while, he began to cry, and he covered his unshaven face with his hands as the tears flowed. Seeing this, a nurse working at the clinic run by Mercy Malaysia volunteers and Iranian medical personnel approached him and asked if she could help.
