Public universities must address weaknesses

THE Private Education Department of the Education Ministry is doing a good job in monitoring the activities of private colleges and universities to ensure that they provide quality education. 

In the past year or two, its officials have closed down several such private educational institutions for breaching the laws, such as starting courses without being registered or the courses had yet to be approved by the department.
