Keep close watch on local councils' performance

THE Barisan Nasional will have to keep a close watch on the performance of local councils to ensure their services are up to public expectations and for its own electoral success. 

There is little doubt the conduct of council employees will have an important bearing on the way the people will vote in the general election.
