BANGKOK: Should we have an Asean summit, or even an emergency UN conference, given Thailand's world-renowned holiday road mishaps? From the latest figures, we seriously need help.

Forget wars or genocide in other parts of the world. In four or five days of the Songkran festival, more Thais are killed in car accidents than US forces and probably Iraqi civilians during the weeks-long battles that involved lethal bombs, missiles, tanks and machine guns.
