IT IS rare for a senior politician to admit the malaise confronting our country. 

I am referring to Acting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s speech at the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Malaysia, “Root out graft,” (The Star, March 7), in which he highlighted issues like corruption, bureaucratic delay and problems associated with lack of respect for public goods and civic consciousness.
