SO is British Prime Minister Tony Blair becoming the first major casualty of the impending war on Iraq? It looks like it on the surface: his personal ratings have hit a new low, minus 20 points, showing the extent of the fallout over his hawkish stance, which is clearly out of step with the sentiments of the majority, 52% of whom oppose a military attack. 

What is significant is the fact that the anti-war movement is essentially a middle-class protest, according to commentators who estimated that more than one million took part in the marches across cities last Saturday.
