IT is scary to read of complaints about foreign maids who have been certified medically fit back home but arrive in our country with contagious diseases and other health problems, “Sick-maid probe’’ (The Star, Jan 19). 

But what has happened is not surprising since the current procedure of determining the health of foreign workers does not ensure that those who are medically unfit are prevented from being employed in the country.
