AG Report is not mere spectacle


ALL eyes will be on the Prime Minister today as he reveals Budget 2027 in Parliament. But just a few days ago, the country’s persistent failure in recovering billions of ringgit in outstanding loans, was laid bare in the august House.

The numbers in the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2026, presented on Monday, bear this out. The Finance Ministry collected just 5% of RM9.273bil in loan arrears last year, leaving billions unpaid with some outstanding for more than four decades.
