When virtual gets real


A FEW months before the untimely demise of influencer Rajeswary Appahu (also known as Esha) by suicide in July last year, I had in this column written twice about the cyberbullying on TikTok’s Tamil sphere.

Esha had lodged a police report a day before her suicide, stating she was incessantly cyberbullied and humiliated on TikTok and worried for her safety.
