Over 2,000 personnel deployed in north China to contain grassland fire from Mongolia


HOHHOT, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,000 personnel were deployed in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to contain a grassland fire spreading from Mongolia, local authorities said on Sunday.

Originating in Mongolia, the blaze has been advancing toward the border with Inner Mongolia.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday, the fire had not crossed into Chinese territory, and containment operations were still underway.
