Russia's GDP grows 1.3 pct in Q2


MOSCOW, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russia's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 56.1663 trillion rubles (about 670 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter of 2026, up 1.3 percent year on year, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) on Friday.

The GDP deflator stood at 12.5 percent in the quarter, indicating continued economy-wide price pressures.

Rosstat said the estimate was based on operational statistical reports from enterprises, sectoral estimates, and data from the Bank of Russia, the Federal Treasury and the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

The agency said real GDP showed mixed trends during the quarter. Final consumption expenditure rose 4.2 percent year on year, while gross capital formation fell 8.4 percent.

In terms of GDP composition, the share of final consumption expenditure edged up to 73.1 percent in the second quarter from 72.8 percent a year earlier. The share of net exports rose from 2 percent to 3.6 percent, while the share of gross capital formation slipped from 25.2 percent to 23.3 percent. (1 Russian ruble = 0.012 U.S. dollar)
