SARAJEVO, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Police in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) arrested six people and seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives in an operation in the Gradiska area on Wednesday, local police said.
After searching 10 locations, police seized 22 military rifles, a pistol, about 1,900 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 46 bombs, three mines, 12 grenade launchers, a hand-held mortar and other weapons and equipment. They also found 100 grams of cannabis and about 3,000 convertible marks (about 1,775 U.S. dollars), Slobodan Torbica, head of the Gradiska Police Administration, told local media outlet Nezavisne novine.
Torbica said the seized weapons were intended to be transported outside Gradiska, adding that the operation had likely cut off an arms trafficking channel that had been operating for some time.
All six suspects were handed over to the duty prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka, the capital of Republika Srpska, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police said.
