ANKARA, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities have seized about 350 kg of cocaine in an anti-drug operation in southern Türkiye's Mersin province, the country's Interior Ministry said Sunday.
The operation was carried out by provincial police departments of Istanbul and Mersin, under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Narcotics Department, the ministry said in a statement.
Legal proceedings were initiated against nine suspects on charges of "manufacturing and trafficking of narcotic or stimulant substances."
Türkiye has long struggled with international drug trafficking, with security forces regularly conducting operations to combat drug abuse and smuggling.
