NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.07 percent to 99.122 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1596 dollars from 1.1613 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3525 dollars from 1.3513 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 153.72 Japanese yen, lower than 154.32 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8166 Swiss francs from 0.8129 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3865 Canadian dollars from 1.383 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.7044 Swedish kronor from 9.6782 Swedish kronor.
