U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.27 percent to 98.914 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1624 dollars from 1.1611 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3542 dollars from 1.3514 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.34 Japanese yen, lower than 156.22 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8095 Swiss francs from 0.8102 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3815 Canadian dollars from 1.3839 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 9.5935 Swedish kronor from 9.5775 Swedish kronor.
