SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- U.S. chipmaker Broadcom Inc. on Wednesday reported revenue of 29.59 billion dollars for its third quarter of fiscal year 2026, up 86 percent from a year earlier, amid strong demand for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.
The California-based company posted generally accepted accounting principles net income of 13.09 billion dollars for the quarter ended Aug. 2, up 216 percent from 4.14 billion dollars in the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share rose to 2.68 dollars from 85 cents a year earlier.
Broadcom's semiconductor solutions revenue reached 20.84 billion dollars, up 127 percent year on year and accounting for 70 percent of total revenue. Infrastructure software revenue increased 29 percent to 8.75 billion dollars.
President and CEO of Broadcom Hock Tan said that demand for the company's custom AI accelerators and networking products remained strong. AI semiconductor revenue surged 221 percent year on year and 54 percent quarter on quarter to 16.7 billion dollars.
"Broadcom achieved record revenue, operating profit and free cash flow in Q3," said Amie Thuener, CFO of Broadcom.
The company's board also approved a quarterly cash dividend of 65 cents per share, payable on Sept. 30 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 21.
