BRATISLAVA, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- M. R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava has handled 3 million passengers in a single year for the first time in its 75-year history, marking a new record for Slovakia's capital airport.
The airport said the milestone was reached on Aug. 24. According to airport General Director and Chairman of the board Dusan Novota, this is a historical record set by Bratislava Airport during the course of this year.
"We have never handled 3 million passengers in a single year at M. R. Stefanik Airport in its 75-year history. It is all the more remarkable that we have surpassed this threshold as early as August, with still more than four months to go until the end of the year," Novota said.
He added that the record passenger numbers clearly indicated that 2026 is set to be the most successful year in the history of Bratislava Airport in terms of passenger traffic.
