NEW YORK, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, rose 0.25 percent to 99.165 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1651 U.S. dollars from 1.1674 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.3592 dollars from 1.3646 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.40 Japanese yen, higher than 159.22 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8055 Swiss francs from 0.8020 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3878 Canadian dollars from 1.3830 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.5329 Swedish kronor from 9.4659 Swedish kronor.
