HARARE, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese companies exhibiting at this year's edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), which opened Monday in the capital, Harare, are seeking to expand their footprint in the Zimbabwean market.
Chinese companies are among the more than 640 exhibitors participating in this year's six-day exhibition, which brings together hundreds of participants to showcase innovations in agriculture, technology, commerce and industry.
Valerie Gnokodza, business manager at Kianga Quartz Slabs, a China-incorporated company based in Zimbabwe, said the company hopes to capture a significant share of Zimbabwe's growing construction market.
"There are several construction companies attending this exhibition, giving us an opportunity to interact with them and expand our business," she said.
Based in Norton, Mashonaland West Province, Kianga specializes in manufacturing quartz slabs for a wide range of applications, including kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, bar tops, window sills, door frames, tables and kitchen islands.
With Zimbabwe's construction industry growing, Gnokodza said the company is seeking to play an increased role in supplying the market with quality products manufactured in Zimbabwe.
"We are hoping to attract more clients by the end of the week, as Zimbabwe's construction industry has grown in recent years," Gnokodza said.
Pi Jiawen, sales representative from Guangzhou Sanjing Electric, a Chinese high-tech enterprise specializing in photovoltaic inverters, energy storage inverters and systems and other products, said the company is seeking to expand its product reach in the Zimbabwean market.
For domestic and industrial clients, she said the company's products seamlessly integrate solar power generation, energy storage and intelligent energy management.
She added that the company's commercial and industrial solutions such as solar pump controllers can power irrigation facilities to help maximize agricultural productivity in Zimbabwe.
This year's event, organized by the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society, focuses on the theme "Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge," highlighting the promotion of agriculture and supporting industries.
