NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar went up in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.02 percent to 99.828 at 3 p.m.
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1540 dollars from 1.1542 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3503 dollars from 1.3509 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.26 Japanese yen, higher than 159.24 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8112 Swiss francs from 0.8101 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3920 Canadian dollars from 1.3942 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.5244 Swedish kronor from 9.5016 Swedish kronor.
