FRANKFURT, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Germany's largest bank, Deutsche Bank, reported on Wednesday its strongest second-quarter post-tax profit on record, driven by strong growth in its investment banking division and strict cost discipline.
The German bank reported a 10 percent year-on-year increase in profit after tax to 1.9 billion euros (2.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter of 2026, the highest level ever recorded for a second quarter.
The bank's net revenues went up 9 percent year-on-year to 8.5 billion euros (9.7 billion dollars) with growth across all four businesses.
"Our record second-quarter results were driven by powerful growth momentum and cost discipline," said Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing, pointing to increased operational efficiency and emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence.
On a half-year basis, the bank also reported record results, with profit after tax for the first six months rising 9 percent and net revenue reaching 17 billion euros (19.3 billion dollars), also up 5 percent from the same period in 2025.
Following the stronger-than-expected results, Deutsche Bank reaffirmed its full-year guidance and said it remains on track to generate approximately 33 billion euros (37.6 billion dollars) in total revenue in 2026.
