U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, July 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 150.37 points, or 0.29 percent, to 52,658.64. The S&P 500 added 28.81 points, or 0.38 percent, to 7,572.4. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 162.219 points, or 0.62 percent, to 26,269.227.

Five of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 2.78 percent and 1.36 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and energy led the laggards by going down 0.98 percent and 0.77 percent, respectively.
