BISHKEK, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's GDP reached 960 billion soms (about 11 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2026, up 11.9 percent from a year earlier, according to statistics released Wednesday by the country's National Statistical Committee.
The services sector accounted for 50.1 percent of the GDP during the period, while goods-producing industries made up 33.9 percent and net taxes on production contributed 16 percent.
In the first six months, the volume of industrial production rose 12.7 percent year on year, while the construction sector posted robust growth of 69.6 percent. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded by 4.3 percent. Hotel and restaurant services increased by 10.3 percent, while wholesale and retail trade grew by 5 percent.
According to the committee, consumer prices increased by 5.5 percent in the first half of 2026 compared with December 2025.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade in goods totaled approximately 6.3 billion dollars in January-May, up 1 percent from a year earlier. Exports fell 9.3 percent, while imports increased 2.8 percent, according to the committee.
