U.S. stocks close lower


NEW YORK, July 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 138.37 points, or 0.26 percent, to 52,498.64. The S&P 500 sank 60.05 points, or 0.79 percent, to 7,515.34. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 408.43 points, or 1.55 percent, to 25,873.176.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and utilities leading the gainers by adding 3.16 percent and 0.67 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and communication services led the laggards by going down 2.07 percent and 0.98 percent, respectively.
