Uzbekistan population exceeds 39 mln: preliminary census results


TASHKENT, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The population of Uzbekistan has officially surpassed the 39 million mark, according to preliminary results announced Tuesday by Chairman of the National Committee for Statistics of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Khamraev.

Presenting the preliminary results of the national census, Khamraev stated that the actual population of Uzbekistan stood at 39,047,321 as of Jan. 15, 2026. The census was conducted over a 45-day period from Jan. 15 to Feb. 28, 2026.

In terms of gender structure, the male population reached 19,766,166, while the female population stood at 19,281,155.

According to the National Committee for Statistics, the census achieved a coverage rate of 97.3 percent of the country's population.

The committee noted that the final official results will be released after the comprehensive processing and analysis of all collected data is completed.
