BISHKEK, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 781.1 billion soms (some 8.9 billion U.S. dollars) in January-May 2026, up 12.2 percent from a year earlier, according to statistics released Monday by the country's National Statistical Committee.
The services sector accounted for 51.1 percent of the GDP during the period, while goods-producing industries made up 32.6 percent and net taxes on production contributed 16.3 percent.
In the first five months of 2026, industrial output rose 14.4 percent year on year, while the construction sector posted a robust growth of 64.6 percent. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded by 3.7 percent. Hotel and restaurant services increased by 15.5 percent, wholesale and retail trade grew by 10.4 percent, and freight transportation rose 9.6 percent.
According to the committee, consumer prices increased by 4.8 percent in January-May 2026 compared with December 2025.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade in goods totaled 4.76 billion dollars in January-April 2026, down 3.6 percent from a year earlier. Exports fell 17.6 percent, while imports declined 0.9 percent, according to the committee. (1 Kyrgyz som = 0.0114 U.S. dollar)
