U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.03 percent to 100.042 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1528 dollars from 1.1523 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.3339 dollars from 1.3337 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 160.26 Japanese yen, higher than 160.17 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.7979 Swiss francs from 0.7962 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3956 Canadian dollars from 1.3949 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.4401 Swedish kronor from 9.4735 Swedish kronor.
