Kazakh maritime carrier posts record container shipping volume along TITR in May

ALMATY, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan's national maritime carrier Kazmortransflot transported a record 7,451 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) on the Aktau-Alat line of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) in May 2026, the state oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) said Wednesday.

The result was attributed to more efficient cargo allocation among vessels, which boosted the frequency of sailings between the two ports, KMG said.

Since 2019, Kazmortransflot, a subsidiary of KMG, has transported more than 210,000 TEUs between Aktau and Alat, equivalent to about 2.7 million tonnes of cargo.
