Libya's national oil firm reports highest monthly revenue in 10 yrs

TRIPOLI, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that it had achieved its highest monthly revenue in 10 years this May, generating nearly 4 billion U.S. dollars, according to local media reports on Monday.

NOC Chairman Masoud Suleman was quoted as saying that the corporation also contracted the delivery of 17 gasoline tankers during May, marking the highest monthly fuel import rate in its history.

Suleman emphasized that the NOC will continue coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure stable fuel supplies and meet local market needs while maintaining production levels and increasing oil revenues.

However, several cities in western Libya have experienced noticeable fuel shortages at filling stations in recent days, leading to long queues and increased pressure on distribution points.

Oil and gas exports are Libya's main source of revenue, but production has been repeatedly disrupted in recent years due to conflict and political instability.
