U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.2 percent to 99.169 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1629 dollars from 1.1644 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3445 dollars from 1.3507 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.33 Japanese yen, higher than 158.9 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.7857 Swiss francs from 0.7826 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3813 Canadian dollars from 1.3804 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.3198 Swedish kronor from 9.2864 Swedish kronor.
