U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.47 percent to 99.278 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.163 U.S. dollars from 1.1677 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3332 dollars from 1.3405 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.68 Japanese yen, higher than 158.19 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.7865 Swiss francs from 0.7834 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3739 Canadian dollars from 1.3724 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.4374 Swedish kronor from 9.3495 Swedish kronor.
