Kyrgyzstan's GDP grows by 12.4 pct in first 4 months of 2026


BISHKEK, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's gross domestic product (GDP) for January-April 2026 amounted to 602.8 billion soms (approximately 6.9 billion U.S. dollars), and is expected to increase by 12.4 percent compared to January-April 2025, according to statistics released Friday by the country's National Statistical Committee.

The service sector accounted for 50.3 percent of the GDP, while industrial goods production accounted for 33.1 percent, and net taxes on food products accounted for 16.6 percent.

During the reporting period, industrial output increased by 14.7 percent, while the construction sector recorded a significant growth of 72.8 percent. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded by 3 percent, with hotel and restaurant services growing by 13.4 percent, and wholesale and retail trade increasing by 11.6 percent. Freight transportation by all modes of transport rose by 7.1 percent year on year.

According to data of the National Statistical Committee, consumer prices increased by 4 percent in January-April 2026 compared to December of last year.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign and mutual trade in goods amounted to 3.3 billion dollars in January-March 2026, representing a 4 percent decrease year on year, with exports down 13.5 percent and imports down 2.3 percent, the committee said.
