U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.43 percent to 98.017 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1748 dollars from 1.1700 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3593 dollars from 1.3551 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.45 Japanese yen, lower than 157.88 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.7790 Swiss francs from 0.7827 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3636 Canadian dollars from 1.3618 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.2339 Swedish kronor from 9.2598 Swedish kronor.
