U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.32 percent to 98.956 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1682 dollars from 1.1714 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3483 dollars from 1.3518 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 160.32 Japanese yen, higher than 159.55 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.7907 Swiss francs from 0.7893 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3681 Canadian dollars from 1.3679 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.3074 Swedish kronor from 9.2716 Swedish kronor.
