Azerbaijan to open new border crossing with Iran

BAKU, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan will soon open a new border crossing on its frontier with Iran, local media quoted Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov as saying on Wednesday.

Speaking at a parliamentary committee meeting, Baghirov said the country has modernized the infrastructure of several customs checkpoints in recent years.

He noted that construction of the Aghband checkpoint on the border with Iran is nearing completion, with intensive work currently underway.

The new facility will also offer more comfortable passage for pedestrians, he added.
