U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.12 percent to 98.098 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1790 U.S. dollars from 1.1774 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3544 dollars from 1.3525 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.24 Japanese yen, lower than 159.26 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.7801 Swiss francs from 0.7844 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3676 Canadian dollars from 1.3706 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.1396 Swedish kronor from 9.2051 Swedish kronor.
