Number of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan rises to 19,072


TASHKENT, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The number of active enterprises with foreign investment in Uzbekistan reached 19,072 as of April 1, data released by the country's National Statistics Committee has shown.

According to the data released Tuesday, the number of companies with foreign participation increased 21.2 percent over the past year. Among these enterprises, 14,680 are fully foreign-owned entities, while 4,392 operate as joint ventures.

China continues to maintain its leadership among investing nations, with 5,398 companies operating in the country with Chinese capital. Russia and Türkiye also maintain a significant presence in the market.

The majority of foreign businesses are concentrated in the capital city of Tashkent, as well as the Tashkent, Samarkand and Fergana regions. Key investment areas include trade, construction, transport, and the information and communication sector.

Over the past five years, the total number of foreign enterprises in Uzbekistan has grown 1.4 times. As of April 1, a total of 577,206 active enterprises and companies are registered in the country.
