ANTANANARIVO, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The second edition of the CEO Summit Indian Ocean opened on Thursday in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, aimed at accelerating regional economic integration.
The two-day summit brings together decision-makers, investors, and officials from 23 countries, with a focus on fostering convergence of visions and providing pragmatic solutions to the economic challenges facing the Indian Ocean region and beyond.
Organized by the Syndicate of Industries of Madagascar (SIM) and BECOM, a Malagasy institutional communication agency, the summit is held under the theme "New Paradigm, New Horizons."
At the opening ceremony, President of Madagascar Michael Randrianirina said that the major regional economic event "reflects our country's openness to regional and international investors."
He called for increased investments and "balanced partnerships based on mutual respect" in Madagascar, while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding national economic sovereignty.
President of SIM Tiana Rasamimanana said that the summit should go beyond mere discussions to become "a catalyst for initiatives," emphasizing the need to translate exchanges into "concrete projects" and "sustainable investments."
Guinean Industry and Trade Minister Fatima Camara underscored the need to transform natural resources into local value addition, while presenting the Simandou 2040 vision, a national transformation project to build a more sovereign economy.
