Piraeus Port posts record-high revenue in 2025

ATHENS, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA), operator of Greece's largest port, reported record-high revenue and operating profit for fiscal year 2025, according to its latest financial statement.

Total revenue reached 250.8 million euros (about 289 million U.S. dollars), up 8.6 percent year-on-year, while operating profit stood at 132.3 million euros (153.3 million dollars), up 2.2 percent, the report said on Tuesday. Both figures marked record highs.

Despite global challenges, including geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions linked to the Red Sea crisis, the company maintained steady operations across its core business segments.

The cruise sector delivered strong performance, with passenger traffic and revenue both reaching all-time highs. Revenue in this segment surged by 24.8 percent, further consolidating Piraeus' position as a leading cruise hub in the eastern Mediterranean. Container terminal operations also performed steadily, contributing significantly to overall revenue growth.

In 2016, China COSCO Shipping Corporation acquired a controlling stake in PPA, becoming its majority shareholder, and increased its shareholding to 67 percent in 2021.
