RSF-led violence in al-Fashir bears 'hallmarks of genocide', say key UN nations

Feb 26 (Reuters) - ⁠Violence by Rapid ⁠Support Forces paramilitary group ‌in the Sudanese city of al-Fashir bears "the hallmarks of genocide", ​the foreign ministers of ⁠the Sudan ⁠core group at the UN ⁠Human ‌Rights' Council said in a ⁠statement on Thursday.

The group concludes ​that ‌RSF-led violence constitutes war ⁠crimes and ​crimes against humanity, and bears the hallmarks ⁠of genocide, the ministers ​said in a statement circulated by the German foreign ⁠ministry.

The countries - Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom - said ​they planned ⁠to form a coalition ​to prevent further ‌atrocities in Sudan.
