U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.14 percent to 97.844 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1779 dollars from 1.1792 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3502 dollars from 1.3490 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.78 Japanese yen, higher than 154.62 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.7735 Swiss francs from 0.7744 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3704 Canadian dollars from 1.3696 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.0449 Swedish kronor from 9.0647 Swedish kronor.
