BERLIN, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Severe snowfall across the southern German state of Bavaria caused multiple traffic accidents and flight disruptions at the Munich Airport, authorities said on Friday.

Police reported around 75 weather-related incidents in southern Upper Bavaria alone, mostly due to snow and icy roads. In northern Upper Bavaria, officers recorded an unspecified increase in crashes but no injuries.

A serious accident occurred near Munich when a car slid off a snow-covered road and crashed into a parked truck, seriously injuring three members of a family. Separately, a 21-year-old woman died after her vehicle skidded off an icy road near Halblech and struck a tree.

Heavy snow also disrupted operations at the Munich Airport, as about 100 flights were canceled on Thursday and around 50 on Friday. Airport officials said operations had largely returned to normal by Friday afternoon, with no further weekend disruptions expected.
