U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.15 percent to 97.066 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1854 dollars from 1.1872 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3632 dollars from 1.3650 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.49 Japanese yen, higher than 152.78 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.7692 Swiss francs from 0.7679 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3635 Canadian dollars from 1.3611 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 8.9412 Swedish kronor from 8.9272 Swedish kronor.
