U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 20.2 points, or 0.04 percent, to 50,135.87. The S&P 500 added 32.52 points, or 0.47 percent, to 6,964.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 207.46 points, or 0.9 percent, to 23,238.67.

Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and materials leading the gainers by rising 1.59 percent and 1.44 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer staples and health led the laggards by each dropping 0.86 percent.
