U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.34 percent to 99.052 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.1643 U.S. dollars from 1.1596 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3426 dollars from 1.3381 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.09 Japanese yen, lower than 158.11 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.7974 Swiss francs from 0.8034 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3869 Canadian dollars from 1.3917 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.209 Swedish kronor from 9.2305 Swedish kronor.
